Outside
Since the swallows left in October last, the little stable yard outside my studio (the old tack room) has been very quiet. Yes, a dozen or more wrens live in the far wall behind my desk and I hear a lot of pushing and shoving, bickering and squabbling at bedtime, but at last things are livening up properly.
This picture explains much, his animals have been out to grass as he has been off sick, but all is getting back to normal.
An advance party of swallows has settled in and soon the main party will arrive making the Etoile feel safe and navigating Trafalgar Square a doddal. They come in at low level at a hundred miles and hour within inches of each other (and me). If I leave my door open they will come in and look for a suitable spot to set up home! I guess that there may be as many as 30 or 40 birds in flight sometimes.

Jo Burchell
Jo is into wire in a big way. Here she is looking very seriously at what she is doing!
Her web site is http://www.artituk.com/Art_Sculpture_2002/artists2.php?ID=41
and at http://www.joburchell.com/
She didn't like my photos of her in her studio which is large, bright and full of lots of work, finished and unfinished which are good and really interesting! You only get a small idea from this one!!!
We are shareing and exhibition in London in November which I hope you will all visit.

Mike Chapman
Mike Chapman is a gifted stone and wood sculptor quite local to me in Dorset. A stone's throw from Hardy's birth place! ("A sort of pun" for you Erik).
Look at the stone caved rings on the "detail" in the last picture!
See one of his beautiful works in London here: http://dorsetsculpture.blogspot.com/2006/11/dorset-stone-sculptor-mike-chapman.html
Mike runs a Summer School, dates for this year are Monday 23 July and 6 August. email mike@mikechapman.plus.com for details. Very good value instruction! He's not charging enough!

Chris Miller
Chris Millers Studio
Well Mr. Miller, I am most impressed there is clearly great industry here and oh so tidy! When I eventually dare to show mine you will see just why I say that! Now if I was cruel I would ask you to turn the camera round to see what is behind you!
The girl in pink on the wall on the left looks interesting, do you have another better picture?
I look forward very much to seeing your Father’s in due course and I think we should do it annually. This gives us plenty of incentive to show new work in progress and like a Major General’s inspection ensure the broom and vacuum cleaners get used, which is not often enough in my case.
